OUR PROJECTS AND CAMPAIGNS
Using technology to promote the democratic agenda
This campaign starts with the idea of using and encouraging the use of technology as a tool for empowerment of individuals and communities in the democratic and political process. From public sector reforms that ensures that information is easily accessible to political processes that takes advantage of the technology infrastructure available and develops new tools to promote inclusion of all people and ensures active participation of the general public in the democratic and political process, to developing and shaping effective and efficient electoral process.
Kofi Annan once said, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.”
Governance Link Initiative understands the value of knowledge and awareness. It is from this premise that Governance Link Initiative prioritizes governance literacy to ensure all Malawians are well informed on all matters relating to democracy and good governance in as far as our great country is concerned, as well as learning from others from around Africa and the world. In addition, we would like to ensure public information is easily accessible and simple to understand.
Corruption Free Zone Campaign
This is an anti-corruption campaign. Every year, we will have a campaign theme on anti-corruption to help raise awareness on corruption and encouraging citizen participation in curbing this problem that is taking away a huge chunk of our resources from productive causes. The campaign will run the whole month of July. We have chosen the month of July, because it is the start of the new government financial year, so, as we start the financial year every one gets ignited and takes the mantle on themselves in the fight against corruption and to protect whatever resources we have, and ensure these resources are well managed.
Free and fair elections
Free and fair elections are an important part of any democracy and democratic governance. In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, Governance Link Initiative will support efforts to provide the general public with election information as well as encouraging the integrity and safeguard of the electoral and political process based on democratic principles and laws as enshrined in our constitution and elections act before, during and after elections.
Governance Challenge Award
Governance Challenge Award will recognize 10 people selected annually from a group of nominees for the Award from a cross range of innovative governance initiatives from across the country. The award will celebrate efforts that demonstrate patriotism, courage, integrity, community empowerment and engagement, transparency and accountability.
